AARON CARLISLE Aaron Carlisle graduated from Princeton University with a degree in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology. After graduation he moved to Monterey where he worked as a scientific aid at California Department of Fish and Game and a research assistant at Moss Landing Marine Laboratories. He joined the Ichthyology Laboratory at MLML as a graduate student under Dr. Gregor Cailliet and Dr. Rick Starr in 2001. While at MLML he was involved in wide variety of field and lab based research projects ranging from Antarctic benthic ecology to the life history of California sharks, skates, and rays. His thesis research was on leopard sharks in Elkhorn Slough. He used active and passive acoustic telemetry techniques to examine patterns of movements and habitat use of leopard sharks in Elkhorn Slough, CA in order to identify important foraging and nursery habitats and better understand the abiotic and biotic factors influencing the distribution of sharks in Elkhorn Slough (i.e. tides, temperature, salinity, oxygen, prey distribution, etc…). Aaron graduated from Moss Landing Marine Labs in 2006 and is currently in a doctoral program in the Block Laboratory at Hopkins Marine Station of Stanford University. |
